.SYNOPSIS...
High temperatures will be gradually warming up through this
weekend. Afternoon winds will be breezy at times. A minor
moisture increase over the weekend may lead to a slight chance
of mainly mountain showers Sunday into early next week.
&&
.DISCUSSION...
Mostly clear skies today with some high clouds passing by.
Temperatures will be a few degrees warmer today than yesterday
with highs a few degrees above normal. Temperatures will
continue to warm through the weekend into early next week with
highs in the low 90s Tucson westward by Tuesday. Highs to the
east will generally remain the same staying in the low to mid
80s. Temperatures Wednesday through Friday will cool a few
degrees from the previous days but still remain 3 to 10 degrees
above normal.
A little bit of moisture will return to areas east of
Tucson Saturday through Tuesday due to a short wave trough
shifting mid-level winds to the southwest pulling a plume of
moisture from the southeast Pacific into southeastern Arizona.
This will lead to partly cloudy conditions and slight chances
(10 to 20%) for precipitation mostly confined to the mountains.
The moisture will push northeastward into northern Arizona
Wednesday and Thursday. Enough moisture will be in place for
very slight chances (~10%) for light precipitation in the White
Mountains these days.
&&
.AVIATION... Valid through 04/12Z.
FEW clouds AOA 20-25k ft AGL expected through 04/01Z becoming
FEW to SCT AOA 15-20k ft AGL. SFC winds generally less than 5
kts and variable through 03/19z becoming NWLY at 5-10 kts
gusting 15-20 kts. SFC winds will be stronger near KSAD, NWLY
at 10-15 kts gusting to 25 kts. SFC winds weaken to less than 5
kts and variable aft 04/04z. Aviation discussion not updated for
TAF amendments.
&&
.FIRE WEATHER...
Dry conditions for the rest of the work week. Minimum RH values
gradually lower into the teens to single digits by the weekend
for areas west of Tucson. East of Tucson, RHs will be 20 to 25
percent Sunday and Monday lowering back into the teens by
Tuesday. In general, occasional gusty afternoon winds through
the weekend. Sunday morning breezy winds are forecast for areas
northeast of Tucson, especially in the Gila River Valley with
sustained southeast winds of 20 to 25 mph gusting 35 to 40 mph.
Ensembles show mid- level moisture returning to areas east of
Tucson Sunday into Tuesday resulting in a low-end 10-20% chance
for light showers and less than 10% chance for a thunderstorm.
