* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...A portion of Southeast Arizona, including the following
areas, Baboquivari Mountains, Catalina and Rincon Mountains, South
Central Pinal County, Southeast Pinal County, Tohono O'odham
Nation, Tucson Metro Area, Upper Santa Cruz River Valley/Altar
Valley and Western Pima County.
* WHEN...From 2 PM MST this afternoon through 10 PM MST this evening.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water
crossings may be flooded.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected this afternoon
into this evening. Rainfall rates in excess of 1 inch per hour
are expected with the stronger storms with isolated areas having
the potential of 2 inches or more in an hour.

Although Phoenix residents may feel that their city MUST be the hottest place around at times, the hottest temperatures in the state occur along the Colorado river in cities such as Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City, Parker or Yuma. In fact the top State honors go to Lake Havasu City, where the mercury climbed to 128° on June 29, 1994. This bests the Phoenix mark of 122°, set on June 26, 1990.
